LESSONS — What to know before booking
Lessons, courses and workshops with Y-40® instructors and tutors

TIME LINE
60 minutes before | Check in and check patent.
40 minutes before | Access locker room with pool slippers.
20 minutes before | Attend safety briefing.
15 minutes before | Prepare equipment, shower before entering the water, use only ladders to enter and exit the water.
FREEDIVE AND SCUBA DIVE LESSONS
00 Dive lesson start
80 minutes later | At buzzer return rented equipment and pick up document.
85 minutes later | End of dive. Exit the water using the ladders. Observe entry and exit times.
SCUBA GUIDE
00 Start dive.
40 minutes later | Safety stop. At buzzer reach -5m and stop there for 3 minutes.
45 minutes later | End dive. Get out of the water using the ladders. Dismount the equipment. Observe entry and exit time.

DIVE CERTIFICATION
The freediving/diving certification specified in each course or workshop is required, except for first experience or Level 1 participants who dive with a Y-40® instructor.

BUDDY SYSTEM
The buddy system in Y-40® organized activities is formed by or directly with the Y-40® Instructor / Safety Y-40® / Guide Y-40® / Tutor and their assistant instructors. One has the obligation to comply with the course directions and remain under their close supervision.

MAX DEPTH
Y-40® Instructor Experience: maximum depth is -12 meters from 15 years of age, -6 meters between 10 and 14 years of age, -2 meters between 8 and 9 years of age.
Safety Y-40®/ Guide Y-40®: diving is allowed within the participant’s maximum patent depth.
Trainer Y-40®: diving is allowed within and not beyond the limit of the next patent.
Y-40® Courses: during instructional activities, the student may reach additional depths beyond the limit of the patent only if in the presence of the instructor and in any case not beyond the limit of the next patent.
Y-40® Workshops with Tutor (e.g., champion, instructor, influencer): diving is allowed within the maximum depth established in the teaching program by the Tutor.

MEDICAL CERTIFICATE
For first Y-40® experiences and dives with Safety Y-40® / Guide Y-40® a medical questionnaire provided by Y-40® is required.
A non-competitive sports medical certificate with valid electrocardiogram (ECG) is required for dives with Y-40® Trainers, Workshops and Courses organized by Y-40®, unless otherwise indicated.
A competitive sports medical certificate with a stress ECG is required for the Y-40® workshop by Umberto Pelizzari.

FREEDIVE/SCUBA DIVE COMPUTER
A freediver/scuba computer is mandatory for every freediver/scuba diver, regardless of the depth reached. Each participant must have his/her own dive computer whose depth, time, and dive data must be readable by the pool staff.

LANYARD
A lanyard is required to enter the well regardless of the depth reached. Each freediver can have his/her own or share it with the diving buddy or instructor. The assisting buddy may dive without a lanyard by reaching the maximum depth 1/3 the depth of the buddy who was performing the dive. The assisting instructor can dive without lanyard and without depth limit.

FREEDIVE EQUIPMENT
For freediving courses organized by Y-40®: you are guaranteed free rental with deposit ID plastic or carbon fins and monofin, mask, snorkel, freediving computer, lanyard (subject to limited availability).
What to bring: patent if required in teaching standards, swimsuit, bathrobe, slippers and padlock. (Not mandatory wetsuit and cap).
For dives with Safety, Guide, Trainer and Workshop: you are guaranteed free rental with deposit ID plastic or carbon fins and monofin and lanyard (subject to limited availability).
What to bring: certification if required in teaching standards, mask, snorkel, apnea computer, fins and/or monofin, swimsuit, bathrobe, slippers and padlock. (Not mandatory wetsuit and cap).
Own equipment allowed, thoroughly washed and sanitized.

SCUBA DIVE EQUIPMENT
For diving course organized by Y-40®: free rental of fins, gav / jacket, tank, regulator, mask, dive computer.
What to bring: certification if required in teaching standards, swimsuit, bathrobe, slippers and padlock. (Not mandatory wetsuit and cap).
In case you want to use your own equipment, you must ask permission from info@y-40.com. Personal equipment must be thoroughly washed, sanitized and in working order.
For sea/lake diving, of the Padi Open Water Diver course we provide: gav/jacket, tank, regulator; for all other courses you must have your own complete personal equipment.

EQUIPMENT TO RENT
Rental fee with deposit ID for: mask, computer (subject to limited availability).
You can purchase from the Y-40® Shop: lanyard, costume, towel, slippers, padlock (subject to limited availability).

CAVE
For freedivers it is forbidden to enter the caves such a maneuver is to be considered very dangerous.
For scuba divers, the caves are accessible. For entry into the submerged tunnel (80 cm in diameter by 10 meters in length), access is restricted only to those with the appropriate certification (cavern, cave or equivalent) or those accompanied by an instructor.

LOCKER ROOM
Locker room: in Y-40® the use of locker rooms, showers, hair dryers and lockers is free of charge. Lockers, in order to be locked, require a padlock. You can bring your own padlock or you can purchase it at Y-40®.
